#GivingTuesday with Fempower Beauty

GivingTuesday inspires folks globally to build a world where generosity is part of everyday life. And since 2012, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become a day symbolizing people doing good.
“Every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.”
At Fempower, we aim to promote intentional acts of self-love that create a safe and affirming environment for all. Lipstick is our vehicle for making the act of generosity to oneself a part of our everyday routine. GivingTuesday aligns with the heart of Fempower’s mission, and to honor this day of people doing good, we are here to share some of our favorite organizations you can support year-round.
The Okra Project
The Okra Project is a mutual aid collective that provides support to Black Trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people with the intention of alleviating some of the barriers that the community faces daily.
It is in and of this same spirit that The Okra Project has positioned itself to continuously extend and create assistance through our programming and partnerships. While we are always blossoming, much like the beloved okra plant, our team is committed to finding unconventional solutions to radically support the Black Trans and GNC community.
Where your money goes:
With programs like rent support, holiday grocery support, and more, any donations to The Okra Project directly benefit Black Trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people with mutual aid.
Malikah
Malikah is a collective of trauma-informed Black and brown women trainers, organizers, and facilitators dedicated to building power for ourselves and our communities. They facilitate, train, and organize locally and have a global collective to build a world where all women are safe and all women are powerful. They equip women in communities with four pillars: healing, self-defense, organizing, and financial literacy.
Where your money goes:
Every donation to Malikah directly supports the work they do. There are options to support a self-defense workshop, scholarships, materials, or even partnering with a new community.
Tegan & Sara Foundation
The Tegan and Sara Foundation’s mission is to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ women and girls. This mission is founded on a commitment to feminism and racial, social and gender justice. The Foundation raises awareness and funds, fights for equality and justice through their flagship programming and support of grassroots organizations, activists and communities that often go unrecognized by major funding institutions.
Where your money goes:
Donations to The Tegan and Sara Foundation goes towards community grants, LGBTQ+ summer camp, queer health access, and funding teacher-submitted projects to bring LGBTQ+ inclusive books to classrooms in the US.
Rising Hearts
Rising Hearts is an Indigenous-led grassroots organization committed to elevating Indigenous voices and promoting and supporting intersectional collaborative efforts with the goals of racial, social, climate, and economic justice.
Where your money goes:
Donations to Rising Hearts directly support Indigenous wellness classes, scholarships, and advocacy work such as making land acknowledgements at trail and road race events common practice and urging organizers to give back to the communities whose land they are borrowing.
Miry’s List
Miry’s List improves the experience for new American families by filling gaps in the governmental system of support for refugees. They provide a way for our community to directly help families with the things, people, and programming they need to thrive.
Where your money goes:
Miry’s List connects with new American families who have needs that are not completely met by their sponsor organizations. They work with them to create a unique list of supplies that is then created as a wishlist for donors to purchase specific items for specific families. Donating money gives them a budget for larger, one-time purchases for families in need like refrigerators or beds.
Black Mamas Matter Alliance
The Black Mamas Matter Alliance is a national network of Black women-led and Black-led, birth and reproductive justice organizations and multi-disciplinary professionals, working across the full-spectrum of maternal and reproductive health. Their biggest goals are to change policy, cultivate research, advance care for Black mamas, and shift culture in support of Black mothers.
Where your money Goes:
Your donations to the Black Mamas Matter Alliance go directly to support existing organizations and individuals whose work is rooted in reproductive justice, birth justice, and human rights frameworks.
A Little Piece of Light
A Little Piece of Light (ALPOL) seeks to empower and facilitate healing for women, girls, and gender-fluid individuals who are directly impacted by trauma from and involvement in the criminal justice system. Led by formerly incarcerated and family members of incarcerated individuals, ALPOL mobilizes those that share their collective trauma incited by sexism, racism, violence, poverty, and incarceration.
Where your money goes:
Donations to A Little Piece of Light go towards supporting their campaigns such as mutual aid for formerly incarcerated women, developing and campaigning for laws that decrease inequitable police presences, and voter registration initiatives.
